CQ:PLAYHOUSE GALA OPENING - 26th September 2009

Culture Quarter recently hosted the red carpet Gala Opening of the Playhouse Theatre after it’s £8.5M refurbishment. The evening was a colourful mix of song, dance and comedy provided by a selection of the local amateur societies and local drama and dance schools.
The evening was kicked off by speeches by the Mayor of North Tyneside and the Chairman of the Council, but only after the theatre was re-christened with the dust that had been collected when the theatre closed some two year previously.
The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was the local talented actor and part-time pantomime dame, Steve Arnott, who gave gravitas and humour to the proceedings.
